typingterminal is a retro terminal-themed typing practice and competitive platform built with next.js and convex. modeled after vintage green-phosphor crt monitors (complete with scanline and flicker styling), it features a curated library of classic literature (like 1984, pride & prejudice, and the great gatsby) and allows users to upload custom books (supporting pdf, epub, and txt) with automatic passage parsing and persistent reading progress tracking. users can practice solo or challenge friends to head-to-head multiplayer typing races using 6-character room codes. progress is tracked via a real-time reactive convex backend and ranked on global leaderboards using a composite score (wpm × accuracy%) across daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time intervals.
